I just did some research on this for a client. Each of the meter manufacturers informed me that all of their new electronic products will accept the new dollar coin. Older versions of their electronic models will have to be modified with new software and some part replacements and/or modifications. I didn't ask about mechanical meters or EMM's, but I would imagine that they would require pretty extensive modifications that the manufacturers probably aren't supporting. I suggest that you check with the manufacturer of your meters for or confirmation.
