FRA Engineering, P.C. provided civil and structural engineering services to Fayko, Johanson & Fortier Architects for design of a new six-level, 1,000 car, post-tensioned, cast-in-place, concrete parking garage located in Downtown Rochester for Wilmorite Inc., developers of the project. The total elevated deck area is approximately 250,000 SF, with a post-tensioned slab thickness of 5-1/2". Services provided included functional alternative development; functional layout and design; structural alternatives assessment; working drawings for the structural and functional design of the garage; and construction specifications. Structural alternatives evaluated include composite steel/concrete design, precast prestressed concrete, and cast-in-place post-tensioned design. FRA developed a performance specification for the project, which was distributed to several contractors for bidding purposes encompassing specifications for a variety of structural systems. FRA worked with the |
Developer to evaluate bids received and to select a Contractor. Once a Contractor was selected, FRA worked in conjunction with the Contractor and Architect to design and develop construction drawings. The project also involved off-site intersection improvements, including modifications to an existing signal. As part of the project, FRA designed a 100' span steel truss pedestrian bridge to connect the new parking garage to an adjacent building. |
