FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
POM Incorporated Awarded Contract in Fort Lauderdale for 2,900 High-Tech Parking Meters For Immediate Release RUSSELLVILLE, Ark., September 7, 2007 --- POM Incorporated announced it has been awarded a $626,000 contract to provide 2,900 new electronic parking meter mechanisms to the city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The mechanisms will fit inside the citys existing meter housings, upgrading them to accept the Parcxmart(tm) card, which provides a cashless option for on- and off-street parking payment, as well as retail purchases at participating merchants. Other features include POMs patented communications through the payment slot, jam- and cheat-resistant coin chute, and the ability to integrate with vehicle detection and wireless network. The proposals were evaluated by special committee who conducted a lengthy search for the right universal city card solution for parking and retail purchases. The proposals were then scored by price, specifications, and product demonstrations. POM has integrated with Parcxmart for similar installations in New Haven and Bridgeport, Connecticut.
